Peter C. Fort, 77, of Riverview Road died on Thursday, June 1, 2017 at Ellis Hospital following an illness. He was born on October 22, 1939 in Schenectady, NY to the late Francis T. and Marjorie (Colcord) Fort.
Peter had been employed as the Director of Administration for the New York Public Service Commission until his retirement. Following retirement, Peter served as a real estate broker. With a mischievous smile and a helpful attitude, Peter volunteered and served the community in many ways. He was a 20 year member and past president of the Shenendehowa Central School Board. He served as a member and chairman of the Clifton Park Zoning Board of Appeals and was a past director of the Northeast Association of the Blind at Albany. Peter was also the director and president of Paul Programs in Troy.
Peter always lived by the creed and passed the message to “keep the faith.”
Peter had a passion for motorcycles and was a past member of the BMW Motorcycle Association of America, the Roamer’s Motorcycle Group in Schenectady and the American Motorcycle Association.
Peter was the beloved husband of Sandra S. (Nelson) Fort, devoted father of Sharon (Chad) Rost, doting grandfather of Christopher Smith and caring brother of Jean Flower. He is also survived by his nieces.
