Obituary for Dylan G. Irish

Dateline: Clifton Park, New York
Dylan Irish died unexpectedly on Sunday, May 1 in Plattsburgh, New York. He was 21 years old. He leaves behind his mom Mary, his dad Rick, his brother Graham and his much loved cousins, aunts, uncles, and grandparents. Dylan was pre-deceased by his baby sister Jaclyn.

Dylan was born in Schenectady and grew up in Clifton Park. He graduated from Shenendehowa High School in 2012, and was a Senior at SUNY Plattsburgh with a major in Elementary Education and minors in English and Canadian Studies. He enjoyed learning and was an enthusiastic student. Dylan preferred getting around campus and town on his bicycle, even in rugged weather. He was well known by fellow students, professors, teachers and locals because of his friendly nature and distinctive style.

Dylan loved Camp Chingachgook on Lake George, where he spent most summers as a camper or a counselor. He was an avid and daring skier, a sailor, a hiker, a lover of books and a creative cook. He was the first to hit the dance floor, especially at a Soul Junction or Twiddle concert. He loved working with kids outdoors and in the classroom, and had already made a positive impact on many young lives. Above all he was a kind and loyal neighbor, friend, son and brother.

All are welcome to attend a day of remembrance for Dylan on Sunday, May 22 at the Columbia Pavilion in Saratoga Spa State Park. The family will accept condolences and hugs of support from 1:00-3:00. At 3:00 all will be seated for a Gathering of Love where stories and memories can be told. Feel free to bring a photo and a memory. At 5:00 all are asked to raise their forks to “Good food, good friends, and good family” and to share a meaningful Jamaican meal. Please come for the entire day or part thereof. Dress is casual.

Contributions in Dylan’s memory can be made to CAPTAIN Youth and Family Services, 5 Municipal Plaza Suite 3, Clifton Park, NY 12065 and to Double H Ranch Adaptive Ski Program, 97 Hidden Valley Road, Lake Luzerne, NY 12846.

With confidence, the family has placed their trust in the loving care of the Townley & Wheeler Funeral Home, 21 Midline Road, Ballston Lake NY, and they encourage you to view and leave messages on Dylan’s Book of Memories at www.TownleyWheelerFH.com
