Obituary for W. Bernard Ille

William Bernard Ille “Ben”, age 95, died on Wednesday, May 13, 2015 at the Guilderland Center Nursing Home. He was born in August 1919 in Schenectady, NY and was the son of the late William and Pearl (Bradt) Ille. He was the brother of Lillian and Richard, who pre-deceased him. Ben grew up on Campbell Ave in Mt. Pleasant, Schenectady and graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School in 1937. He graduated from the GE apprentice course and completed a BS degree in engineering in three years at University of Wisconsin - Madison. While at the University, he taught mechanical drawing. He worked with dedication as an engineer in the steam turbine design department at GE, Schenectady. He retired in 1981 after a fulfilling 40-year career there. He was an active man who especially enjoyed golfing, bowling, playing cards and helping family with home projects. After he retired, he loved taking care of his grandchildren. He cherished and adored his entire family and he in turn will be missed dearly by all.

He was the husband of Barbara S. (Maichele) Ille whom he married in 1958; father of Jami (Don) Juron of Glenville, NY, Daniel Ille of Schenectady, NY and Sandra (Chris) Hutchinson of Glenville, NY; grandfather of Patrick, Jeffrey and Jenna Juron, and Philip and Steven Hutchinson.

The family would like to thank the staff of the Guilderland Center Nursing Home for the compassionate care given to Ben.

There will be no calling hours.
A private graveside service will be held in St. John the Baptist Cemetery, Schenectady.
