Valerie B. Ryan, age 69, passed away on Sunday October 21, 2018 at St. Peter’s Hospice Inn. She was born on August 2, 1949 in Schenectady, New York and was the daughter of the late William and Harriet (Laniewski) Rodwell.
Valerie graduated from Scotia-Glenville High School and went on to get her Bachelor of Education from SUNY New Paltz followed by a Master’s in Public Health at the College of St. Rose. For forty years, Valerie worked in various roles for the New York Telephone Companies. She left as a manager in the PSC Group at Verizon.
Apart from her career, Valerie valued most spending time with her family and her dogs. She enjoyed her annual family vacation to Cape Cod and hosting gatherings at her home in Charlton.
Valerie was the loving mother of Matthew (Mary Companion) Ryan of Charlton, NY and Dr. Sara (David Jackson) Ryan of Gansevoort, NY; adoring grandmother of Christopher and Jacob Ryan and Caroline, Nora, and Evelyn Jackson; and caring sister of Nancy (Andrew) Brauer. She also leaves her beloved four-legged companions, Kayla, Stanley and granddog Artie. Several nieces, nephews and loving family and friends also survive her.
Valerie is predeceased by her husband Mark Ryan.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, October 26, 2018 at 10:00 am at Our Lady of Grace Church, 73 Midline Road, Ballston Lake, NY 12019.
