Dateline: Ballston Lake, NY
Cynthia “Cindy Lou Who” S. O’Connell, age 69, passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday October 6, 2018. She was born on July 23,1949 in Albany, NY and was the daughter of the late Harry and Lydia (Veralghue) Stanton.
Cynthia worked for the NYS Department of Temporary & Disability Assistance, formerly known as Social Services – OTDA, for over thirty years. She was a member of the Halfmoon American Legion Post #1450. Cindy had a passion for living life and experiencing the joys around her. She enjoyed extensive travel throughout the United States and only missed visiting five states. Year after year she summered at her camp at Loon Lake where she cherished all of her friendships. Bike week in Laconia, NH was a yearly destination that she was always pumped up for. Her trip to British Columbia, Canada last summer was a highlight in her life that she thoroughly enjoyed. Cindy was a magical magnet who attracted people. She always thought of others and showed them her love with a heart of gold. She will be missed dearly.
Cynthia is survived by her husband James O’Connell and her step-children Erin (Martin Mahoney) O’Connell and Kevin (Stefany) O’Connell.
Cynthia is predeceased by her brother Harry Stanton.
