Dateline: Ballston Lake, NY
Thomas Charles Andress, age 64, of Ballston Lake, passed away peacefully at home after a courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by his loving family on Friday, September 21, 2018. Tom, the son of Joseph Charles Andress and Jean Louise Power was born in Orange, NJ on June 6, 1954.

Tom was a graduate of Lafayette College, where he received a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering. In 1987 he founded ABD Engineers and Surveyors in Schenectady, NY with his two partners, where he continued to be devoted to his clients and friends up until the week of his passing. Throughout his career, Tom was instrumental working behind the scenes in developing the greater capital district and inspired the careers of many developers throughout the area.

Tom was a renaissance man. He had a passion for fine art, the theater, classical music, sports cars, boating, and gourmet food. He was also an avid collector. Most importantly he enjoyed spending time with his family.

Tom is survived by his devoted wife, Karen Proper Andress; his loving children, Jennifer (John) Staines, Matthew, Ryan, and Kyle Andress; his grandchildren, Jacob, Emily and Sarah Staines; his parents, Joseph and Jean Andress, his sisters, Pamela (James) Phillips and Karen Andress; as well as several nieces and nephews.

A private memorial will be held. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to a charity of your choice in his memory.

With confidence, the family has placed their trust in the loving care of Townley & Wheeler Funeral Home, 21 Midline Road, Ballston Lake, and they encourage you to view and leave messages on Thomas’ Book of Memories at www.TownleyWheelerFH.com
